Thanks for visiting with us today. Can you tell us your name and where you are from?
Doug Darland, originally from Goldfield and have lived in Clarion for the past 28 years.
How long have you lived at the Meadows?
Um, four years and two months.
What brought you to the Meadows?
It’s a nice place to live. My mother used to live here. Yard work and stuff like that was getting to be too much, so I had to find someplace else to go and this is a good place.
Tell me some things you like about living here
The people. The other residents that live here are great! They are very friendly people and if you want to play cards and do stuff there are a lot of things to do.
Speaking of things to do, what are some of your favorite activities?
Well, one of them is the girls who got me playing Bridge, which I had never played before. I like playing Hearts and doing puzzles.
What would you say to anyone that was considering moving to the Meadows?
It’s a very nice place to live. The rooms are great and the people that work here are very good. Um, hate to be losing Doug he’s a great cook. And the people that live here are so friendly and nice and worried about everybody else.
Is there anything else you would like to share about living here?
The thing is you don’t have to go out, like the cold weather today. You can get your groceries delivered from Superfoods. I get my medication from Thrifty White and they deliver, so that’s nice. And of course, we have the hospital and Wildflower and stuff like that here too, so you really don’t have to go outside if you don’t want to.
So lots of conveniences?
Yes, yes it is. I enjoy it.
